Key model for drug development of primary sclerosing cholangitis
Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSCH) is a chronic cholestatic disease characterized by progressive inflammation and fibrosis of the intra- and extrahepatic bile ducts, which in turn leads to multifocal bile duct strictures. Most patients eventually develop cirrhosis, portal hypertension and hepatic decompensation.
We have established a stable model of trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS)-induced primary sclerosing cholangitis , which is suitable for preclinical studies of drugs for primary sclerosing cholangitis and evaluation of new drugs.
