Key Model for Drug Development of Endometriosis
Endometriosis, also known as endometriosis, is a common gynecological condition in which the endometrium (containing glands and mesenchyme) grows in a part of the uterine cavity other than the uterus. The main clinical symptom of endometriosis is progressively worsening secondary dysmenorrhea, which may be accompanied by pain during sexual intercourse, menstrual abnormalities, and infertility. Symptoms are closely related to the menstrual cycle, and different lesion locations lead to different symptoms, e.g., intestinal endometriosis may lead to abdominal pain and bowel problems, and respiratory endometriosis may lead to hemoptysis and pneumothorax.
We have established a stable rat abdominal wall endometriosis model and a rabbit abdominal wall endometriosis model, which are suitable for preclinical endometriosis drug research and new drug evaluation.
