Key models for osteoporosis drug development
Osteoporosis is a systemic bone disease triggered by a variety of causes, and is mainly characterized by a decrease in bone density and bone mass, and damage to bone microstructure, which increases bone fragility and creates a fracture-prone state. Osteoporosis is mainly categorized into primary and secondary, and primary is further divided into postmenopausal osteoporosis (type I), senile osteoporosis (type II) and idiopathic osteoporosis. Symptoms of osteoporosis include pain, spinal deformity and fragility fractures. These symptoms can lead to pain, dysfunction in daily life, or more serious complications such as thoracic deformities that affect cardiopulmonary function.
We have established a stable model of ovariectomy-induced osteoporosis, which is suitable for the study of drugs for preclinical osteoarthritis and the evaluation of new drugs.
